Muse is a platform that allows people to connect easily with high-quality independent music teachers in their area. This platform would provide a source of income for struggling musicians and allow parents to easily find high quality and trustworthy teachers.
The target audience is parents who are looking to supplement their children’s education with extra-curricular activities, particularly parents who value music education. Male and female, ages 25-50.
The first brand word, “streamlined” reflects the sleek design of the logomark. The rest of the brand words reflect the values of the company, which aims to provide safe, easy and inspiring music lessons for children without access.
With the logo, the challenge was to create a fresh design with the limited imagery that immediately communicates music. I explored various images that telegraph music looking for a modern take on a ubiquitous symbol.
The use of curved corners and a modern color palette reflect the platform's ease of use and allow the music note to look sleek yet playful.
The colors for Muse were selected to make a wide customer base feel comfortable. The bright, cheerful palette reflects the platform’s focus on the child’s experience.
Poiret One was selected as the brand font to match the smooth rounded edges of the logo. I selected Open Sans as my secondary font for its straightforward feel and because it is a good device font for apps and websites.
Muse's business model details how the platform functions.
The main challenge in the UI design was maintaining continuity with similar platforms (Rover, Care.com, Airbnb) to allow users to feel immediately comfortable, while still creating a differentiated platform.
I worked throughout to reduce clutter and create a clean design. An accessible, familiar site structure is invigorated by the brand palette and design elements.
With Muse's stationery system, the goal was to subtly incorporate elements consistent with the logo and allow the body of the letter to remain the focus. I experimented with how much design I could incorporate without overwhelming the text.
Curved lines are used as a design element to mirror the streamlined curves present in the logo. The watermarks let the content take center stage.
